The Texas Christian Advocate, Galveston, Texas, 28 Apr 1860: "Elijah Chisum died on 11th of April at his residence in Nacogdoches, Texas. He had no record of the date of his birth, but his most aged acquaintances thought he had lived almost one hundred years. He came to Texas in 1836 and in 1842 during the first meeting at Simpsons' Campground he was, through the instrumentality of the Reverend William Craig of the East Texas Conference, brought into the fold." by C.L.
